The Citizen Chrono Master stands as an icon of precision and craftsmanship in Citizen’s storied history of watchmaking. Introduced in 1967, this high-end timepiece was engineered to meet chronometer-grade accuracy, rivaling the prestigious Swiss chronometer-certified mechanical watches. However, due to restrictions on the "chronometer" designation outside Switzerland, Citizen ingeniously rebranded the series as "Chrono Master," distinguishing it with the signature eagle emblem proudly displayed on both the dial and case back.
Building on the legacy of Citizen’s earlier 1962 hand-wound "Chronometer" watches, the ChronoMaster offered both hand-wind and automatic movements, catering to a range of preferences that certainly make it fascinating.
Today we're offering this beautiful and unused Ref.4-020171Y as the No-date variant of this series featuring a simple case construction with an elegant touch elevated by the twisted lugs.
Less is more, and this watch proves it: The silvery-white sunburst dial embodies minimalist elegance, with polished hands featuring onyx-black accents and applied markers, all crowned by the iconic eagle emblem above 6 o’clock. But what truly sets this piece apart is its unique patina: A rich gray, even deep purple hue, that has gracefully formed around the edges of the dial in a beautifully uniform manner.
The case showcases sharp angles, polished surfaces, and an 18mm lug width, with a slightly domed mineral crystal for added depth. Powered by the manual Cal.0920 (22 jewels, 18,000 BPH), it supports hand-winding and hacking.
A true gem of Japanese vintage craftsmanship, untouched examples of Citizen’s Chrono Master are exceedingly rare, especially one like this, preserved in pristine condition with its original straps and price tag. If you’ve been searching for the perfect way to experience the Chrono Master series, this exceptional reference is dreamy.
The watch currently works flawlessly and it will be sold as is to retain it's original state. Please let us know if you wish to service it.
