The 56GS was the last vintage Grand Seiko mechanical series, mass-produced from 1970 to 1974 in a wide variety of models. The production process of the 56GS series was partially automated and used the 564X 28,800bph movement, which provided the right balance of accuracy and reliability. Unlike other series, one can notice the consistency in the design of the 56GS models.
The watch we have to offer is a deadstock example that comes with its original bracelet, original tags, and the blue protective film on its case back. It was originally discovered inside a watch store that closed in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan.
As the dial of this model usually fades to gray over time, this particular one still retains its original blue color and it is in pristine condition with no signs of aging.
This particular example was made in September 1971 and features a distinctive faceted-cushion case, blue linen dial, stick hours indexes, dolphin hands, 'GS' signed crown, and case-back medallion that are all parts of Grand Seiko's design language today. Coupled with its untouched original and matching brick link bracelet with a signed clasp, we are left with a truly special and elusive package.
This piece demonstrates perfectly what's so great about Japanese craftsmanship: Attention to detail and refinement.
This timepiece presents a very rare opportunity for collectors to acquire an extremely rare untouched example of this particular reference.
The watch currently works and it will be sold as is.
Servicing is possible for 40,000 JPY extra, please contact us if you would like to service it.
