Today we offer this extremely rare and pristine Seiko Golf Cronos 13074 set from 1961.
 
 
In World War II, the US military took control of numerous golf courses in Japan. But when these courses were handed back to Japan in the 1950s, there was a significant increase in enthusiasm for the sport.
 
As the popularity of Golf spiked, Seiko made special Golf watches under its Cronos hand-wind in limited numbers as a celebration: Belt buckles for golfers with a flip-down buckle revealing a hidden watch (We sold one a while ago!), golf-themed pocket watches and this Cronos cased in a 13074.
 
The 13074 is interesting in that it features a golf ball face on both dials and on the case back. The dial comes in cream patterned with white dots to represent the golf ball surrounded by a beautiful silver bezel with black minutes trims. which in turn is perfectly complemented by the iconic mountain hands. A gorgeous watch indeed, the lugs and resulting overall shape of the watch present as the most prominent features of the design.
 
This Cronos Golf is powered by the Manual winding 21J Diashock movement and comes in a complete set that you probably see once in a lifetime: Coming with its original and extremely rare metal box, original signed Seiko straps, the iconic S buckle, and the Cronos tag, this example is in very good condition with remnants on the blue protective sticker on the case-back and the dial is immaculate which is a true joy to see up close since most of these model tend to deteriorate. Originally belonging to a private collection, we believe this is how the particular model came for sale during that time.
 
A truly collectible piece, and one that we won't likely have the opportunity to offer again soon, especially in such a pristine set.
