Seiko’s H558-5000, better known as the “Arnie,” is one of the few quartz watches that many seek out, and for good reason. Launched in 1982, it made history as the first diver’s watch to combine an analog and digital display, complete with a chronograph and an alarm. At nearly 46mm, including its rugged shroud, this beast of a diver naturally found its way onto the wrist of its most famous fan: Arnold Schwarzenegger. With an already well-documented collection of incredible watches, Arnie made this Seiko his go-to throughout the 1980s. It even had its fair share of screen time, appearing in action-packed classics like Predator and Commando.
Collectors often consider the H558-5000 a fringe member of Seiko’s legendary “Tuna” family, but it stands out in its own right: Its textured matte black dial is punctuated by crisp white hour markers, framed by a stacked depth meter and minute chapter. The polished hour and minute hands have retained much of their original shine, and the digital display remains sharp, with all functions: Alarm, hourly chime, and incandescent backlight working flawlessly. The bezel turns smoothly in both directions, and despite its bold presence, legibility is top-notch. The case design is equally fascinating, with a protective shroud secured by screws and collars, while the screw-down crown and case back reinforce its deep-diving credentials.
Looking to add a JDM variant of this icon to your collection? This untouched set comes complete with its original box and papers, an absolute rarity. Originally purchased in 1983 in Japan from "Do Sports Plaza," a well-known and still operational sports chain, this Arnie has been carefully preserved and tucked away for decades, waiting for the right collector. Fully functional with a fresh battery installed, this time capsule of a diver watch is nothing short of remarkable.

Seiko Diver H558-5000 Quartz Ana/Digi
This Arnie is nothing short of a dream find. Complete with all its original accessories, the watch itself is in immaculate condition, with no noticeable scratches on the case.
The dial remains pristine, while the lume has aged into a beautiful yellow patina, adding even more character to this vintage piece. As expected from years of careful storage, the original straps have become brittle from sitting in the box holder, but the caseback remains flawless, still bearing its protective blue sticker.
Even the tags, papers, original box, and outer box have been well preserved, making this a truly remarkable set.
