Introduced in 1961, the Seiko SilverWave J12082 was the brand’s first true foray into dive watches—laying the groundwork for icons like the 62MAS 6217-800X. Though produced for only a few short years (1961–1964), it was a game-changer: Seiko’s first watch with an inner rotating timing bezel and their first automatic with a screw-down case back.
 
Rated to 50m, the SilverWave may not look like a modern dive watch, but its impact is undeniable. It’s the foundation of Seiko’s legendary dive watch lineage. The J12082, particularly in its 50m variant, remains a coveted piece, and handling a pristine example like this one is a true privilege.
 
This particular J12082 is something special. The silvery-white sunburst dial gleams, adorned with the eight-pointed star logo and the coveted “SD” (Special Dial) insignia. The original luminous plots remain intact, sitting just inside the polished baguette hour markers. The lume on the snowflake hands is still vivid green—an incredibly rare sight after all these years. The dial transitions seamlessly to the inner bezel, which features a well-proportioned "count-up" scale, a luminous triangle at zero, and a bold black crest. The inner bezel rotates in both directions via the crown, a nod to the pioneering engineering of its time.Adding to its charm, the original bracelet is remarkably well-built, featuring a stretchy clasp mechanism for supreme comfort. 
 
Finding a SilverWave in decent condition is already a challenge but finding an unused, untouched example like this? Nearly unheard of. This one has been perfectly preserved, with a flawless dial, crisp case, and a bracelet in immaculate shape. The case back still boasts the famous Tsunami motif, with most of its original protective blue sticker intact. And to top it all off, it even comes with the original tag.
