Citizen Alarm Date Diver ALDS 52902-Y

Sale price¥429,000 JPY

A diver with an alarm. It shouldn't work, and that's exactly why it does.

When it comes to Citizen's most iconic watch series, the Alarm series easily earns its place at the top. Citizen has long been a pioneer in Japanese watchmaking, introducing the country's first calendar watch in 1952, its first shock-resistant watch in 1956, the first alarm wristwatch in 1958 and Japan's first water-resistant watch in 1959.

The Alarm Date Diver ALDS 52902-Y brings two of those firsts together in one case. Limited in production and bold in character, it pairs a bi-directional rotating bezel with a vibrant red alarm hand, and in a clever twist, the signature red triangle belongs to the alarm hand rather than the bezel. Powering it all is the manual-wind Cal. 3102, based on the reliable A. Schild architecture.

The glossy black dial is the star here. Under the light it has an almost lacquered depth, framed by the mirror-like black bezel insert, with the red alarm hand cutting across it like a signal flare.

Today's offering is an October 1968 example in immaculate condition. As far as we can tell, it has never been worn, apart from the wrist shot for this listing. It still carries remnants of its original caseback sticker and sits on its original steel bracelet. It has been serviced and runs at 0s/day, ready to wear from day one.

Ships from Tokyo, Japan.
