Seiko Automatic Indicator 14060N SD Dial

Seiko's first automatic, as it left the shop in the 1950s: tags, box, and all.

Introducing a historical timepiece made by Seiko: the Automatic Indicator. It was Seiko's first wristwatch with an automatic movement, and it announced the fact in the most romantic way possible, with a power-reserve indicator placed right beneath 12 o'clock. It became the ruler of the dial, a small arc telling you exactly how much life was left in the 21-jewel movement within.

Early Indicator models carried the Seiko "S" logo high on the dial, where it competed with the power-reserve display. The later references corrected that, replacing it with an elegant cursive "Seiko Automatic" signature and letting the indicator take centre stage. This one also carries the SD (Special Dial) logo, Seiko's mark for dials fitted with solid gold hour markers, reserved for its more premium pieces of the era.

Today's offering is a genuine new old stock example, complete with its original leather strap and gold "S" buckle, original tags and original box. The gold-plated case is immaculate with no peeling, and the dial and hands are beautiful. It has been serviced and runs at 0s/day.
