Seiko Professional Diver 6159-7001

Seiko's first 300m diver, with a Grand Seiko heart. And this one comes with the box.

Produced only in 1968 and 1969, the 6159-700X was Seiko's first 300m dive watch, following the legendary 62MAS by five years. It was a leap forward in every sense: Seiko's first monocoque case with a screw-down crown, set at 4 o'clock so it never digs into the wrist.

Inside is the Calibre 6159A, a 36,000 vph hi-beat movement originally developed for Grand Seiko, and one of Seiko's first automatics that could also be wound by hand. The matte black dial carries geometric hour markers, broad sword hands and a date window at 3 o'clock, a design that still shapes Seiko's divers today. This example features a later RESIST dial in a PROOF case.

What makes this example exceptional is everything around it. The case is sharp, the bezel, dial, hands and lume are immaculate, and it still wears its original black straps, soft and in immaculate condition, together with its original box, outer box and a spare set of original orange straps. Complete sets like this are among the hardest 6159s to find.
